The New Mexico Nuclear Alliance

Founded in July 2025, we are a New Mexico registered 501 C(6) non-partisan membership organization whose purpose is to support and advocate the role of nuclear energy in our state’s clean energy transition and unlock and grow the economic development potential this base load clean energy resource represents for our state including tribal, rural and metro communities.

 

We are a collection and established ecosystem of passionate environmentalists, scientists, private sector companies, a talented and well trained workforce, national laboratories and universities 

that recognize the real and growing momentum for nuclear power across the Southwest and the nation.

 

Our vision is to improve the public's understanding of the crucial role nuclear energy must play in a prosperous, resilient and carbon-free New Mexico. We understand the rich, deep and at times controversial past nuclear energy has played in our state's history. We are keenly aware and sensitive to industry legacy issues and seek alignment and mutual understanding through thoughtful engagement and relationship building. 

 

Our mission is to develop advocacy and smart policy, that leads to a brighter, carbon-free tomorrow that also drives sustainable and long term economic development and prosperity for all New Mexicans.

 

New Mexico can responsibly grow its existing nuclear ecosystem and has the opportunity to lead the country by example, demonstrating that communities once supported by fossil fuels can thrive with carbon-free, reliable and affordable nuclear energy. This transition meets climate change goals, creates more high-paying jobs, strengthens local economies, and supports national security.
